Vince Dhimos Editor-in-Chief at New Silk Strategies (2016–present) The US has used the Kurds to take control of the Syrian oil fields at Deir Ezzor in exchange for some military assistance in "fighting terror." The problem is, according to a map of Kurdistan that I consulted, Deir Ezzor is not part of Kurdistan and hence does not belong to the Kurds. No US publication ever mentions this fact. The US imported these Kurds to Deir Ezzor so that it could pretend that it was protecting the Kurdish area of Syria, but that is a lie and a fraud. The Kurds, of course, went along with this deception in an effort to secure ill-gotten Syrian oil but this oil belongs to the Syrian people and not to any one minority as the US would have us believe. Of course, the phony US narrative is that the Kurds helped them fight ISIS. But in fact, it is not up to the US to fight terror in a sovereign country which it has invaded, and in which it is not welcome. So that argument is invalid. If the US ever gets its foul rear end out of Deir Ezzor, the Russians and Syrians will be able to access the area and fight ISIS for real, not just engage in play acting. As it is, once under Obama, Syrian troops that went into Deir Ezzor were slaughtered. Then once again, this time under Trump, Russian mercenaries who WERE INVITED to Syria were slaughtered in that same area BY THE THIEVING MURDEROUS US. This gives the lie to the narrative that the US is there to protect Syrians from ISIS and that Syria therefore owes them its oil resources. The fact is, Syria needs protection from the Washington crime syndicate and also from ISIS and the Kurds. The Kurds opted of their own free will to team up with the corrupt, dishonest, criminal US forces that destroyed Iraq and are robbing the Syrian people blind. Meanwhile, Russia is offering to mediate between the Kurds and the Syrians in a peace effort, and that is at least honest. The Russians have never stooped to pretending to protect a minority when in fact they were out to rob and steal. As time goes on and as it becomes increasingly clear that the US forces are not to be trusted, the Kurds will find the protection they deserve if they learn to play straight.
