In the following is our translation of an article from the Iraqi site almaalomah.com with commentary and intra-textual notes [in brackets] by Vince Dhimos.
First, a minor note on the text. The title given in Almaalomah is based on a faulty translation into Arabic cited by the Iraqi author who says the Christian population dropped to 90%, whereas the original report said the population dropped by 90%, as reported by Breitbart. In other words, the bulk of the Christians left Iraq due to severe persecution or were killed. (And we would be remiss if we did not again remind the reader that the terror itself was initiated and sponsored by the US-led West, as we showed here). Excerpt: “The study, which covered the period from 2017 to 2019, accused Western governments and the United Nations of ‘failing to provide Christians in countries such as Iraq and Syria with the emergency assistance they need at the start of the genocide, despite the unprecedented concern of the international community about the persecution of Christians by terrorist groups and extremist organizations.’” This last sentence obscures the fact that it was not just failure after and during the war but the active involvement in the war, ie, the instigation and prosecution of the war that got Christians killed and expelled, and that this was in fact genocide attributable to the US and its “Christian” president GW Bush, and to his millions of fans among American Evangelicals who, thanks to their cult-like support of Israel in the name of “Christian” Zionism, fuelled this genocide as part of the Oded Yinon plan (see below) to sow chaos in the Middle East, turning Muslim countries against each other in order to distract them from their effort to restore the Palestinian lands to their rightful owners. What most Westerners fail to grasp, or prefer to ignore, is that without Western involvement there would have been no ISIS, and of course, no war in Iraq to begin with. Emphasizing the lack of protection after the war obscures the central role the war itself in the genocide. Of course, it’s easy to understand why the Catholic charity Alitea could not straightforwardly and directly state that the “Christian” US by its invasion of Iraq caused the genocide of the Assyrian Christians. But that is exactly the case. It was none other than the Bush invasion that led to the predictable eviction and killing of Assyrian Christians. It would be unreasonable to expect the perpetrators of the genocide to turn around and rescue the victims. And indeed the failure of the US and UN to even attempt to rescue these Christians is evidence of the intent. It was no accident. (BTW, it is noteworthy in John Bolton’s book about Trump, the Neocon author criticizes the president for not invading Iran, and post-publication, openly endorses Biden. Doesn’t that suggest that this warmongering author expects Biden to be more amenable to war than Trump?) Read about the Yinon Plan and how its implementation by the US sows chaos in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region: http://www.newsilkstrategies.com/news--analysis/peace-on-earth-a-christian-analysis The fact that the Iraqi publication Almaalomah, published by mostly Muslims in Iraq, carried this story sympathetic to Middle Eastern Christians speaks volumes. The vast majority of Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Muslims not only do not wish their indigenous Christians harm, they rather like and admire them. It is only the so-called “Christian” West that initiated the ethnic cleansing and persecution of these Christians. You may suspend disbelief and contend that this was all a mistake on the part of the Washington manipulators if you wish. But isn’t it more plausible to suspect that the outcome was more or less what these manipulators had desired from the outset? Indeed, there are simply too many coincidences in US aggression. The planner’s hand decided the outcome. BEGIN TRANSLATION Report: Christian population in Iraq has decreased by 90% A new study conducted by the aid organization affiliated with the Catholic Church said on Thursday that Christian immigration from the Middle East has reached disturbing proportions and cannot be stopped except with the help of the international community, indicating that the percentage of Christians in Iraq has decreased by 90%. The website of Aleteia reported on the study published every two years and translated by Almaloomah, showing that “the Christian religion has begun to wither away and disappear from the towns and cities in the ancient homelands of faith in the Middle East region and that, despite the defeat of ISIS, the effect of the genocide led to emigration and greatly decreasing numbers of Christians from the region.” "There were about 1.5 million Christians in Iraq before 2003, but by mid-2019 this number fell to less than 150,000 people, and according to some estimates, the number of Christians there may have decreased to only 120,000 people, a decrease of more than 90 % In one generation. ” "With regard to Syria, the Christian population has decreased by two thirds since the beginning of the unrest in the country in 2011, when the number of Christians at that time in Syria was more than two million people." The study, which covered the period from 2017 to 2019, accused Western governments and the United Nations of “failing to provide Christians in countries such as Iraq and Syria with the emergency assistance they need at the start of the genocide, despite the unprecedented concern of the international community about the persecution of Christians by terrorist groups and extremist organizations.” [This last sentence is a distraction from the fact that it was not just failure AFTER and DURING the war but the active involvement in the instigation and prosecution of the war that got Christians killed and expelled. What most Westerners fail to grasp, or prefer to ignore, is that without Western involvement there would have been no ISIS, and of course, no war in Iraq to begin with. Emphasizing the lack of protection after the fact covers for the fact itself. Of course, it’s easy to understand why the Catholic charity Alitea could not straightforwardly and directly state that the US by its invasion of Iraq caused the genocide of the Assyrian Christians.]. The study warned that "the Christian church in the region will fade if extremist terrorists launch another attack on vulnerable societies - a threat highlighted by reports of terrorists escaping from prisons as a result of renewed violence in northeastern Syria." WAR NEWS Below is a fascinating piece of news. Westerners are led to believe that the only legitimate government in Libya is the Government of National Accord (GNA), led by Faez Serraj. The devious scheme to dupe Westerners into thinking that government is the legitimate one is to remind people that it is recognized by the UN and the US. What most news releases on Libya omit is the fact that the Libyan parliament, which best represents the will of the people, dissents from this Tripoli based government, which has allowed Turkey to import Syrian militants affiliated with ISIS into Libya, and in addition, has turned a blind eye to actual black slavery perpetrated under its nose. The parliament has in fact, voted against the Turkish involvement, which is therefore illegitimate. Libyan military leader calls on Egypt to intervene if Turkish-backed forces capture Sirte By News Desk - 2020-06-24 BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – Aqila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, announced that the Libyan people will formally ask Egypt to intervene with military forces if the necessities of maintaining Libyan national security and Egyptian national security require. He stressed that “the Libyan people ask Egypt to intervene to protect our common national security if the militias cross the red line in Sirte and Al-Jafra.” [Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar has taken extraordinary steps to secure Sirte and Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has vowed to send his powerful armed forces into Libya should the GNA and its illegitimate Turkish allies try to take the area. Russian MiG-29s have already destroyed Turkish-led convoys in Libya and are poised and ready for any contingency – Vince] He continued: “We trust that Egypt will not let us down and will not abandon us and will not leave us unjust or an enemy that wants to attack the Libyan people,” considering that: “Egyptian intervention in Libya is legitimate to protect its rights, western borders and national security.” Saleh, who is the commander-in-chief of the Libyan Armed Forces [refers to Haftar’s Libyan National Army], told the official Egyptian Middle East News Agency that the Libyan people, with all its components, support the efforts of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to stop the war. Saleh added, from his residence in the city of Al-Qubba in eastern Libya, that the Libyan parliament is the only elected and representive authority of the Libyan people [ my highlighting. Vince], and its members have communicated with the various components of the Libyan people who have unanimously supported President Sisi’s efforts both in implementing the “Cairo Declaration” ceasefire and resuming the peace talks. [And remember, it is US Democrat lawmakers who are insisting that Haftar is illegitimate simply because he is allied with Russia. It is telling that these Democrats, who support Black Lives Matter, have not protested the black slavery that is tolerated by the government they support! http://www.newsilkstrategies.com/military-affairs/why-dont-the-dems-care-about-black-slavery-in-libya]
